Dhorea Ramanula is a compassionate and dedicated individual who has made a significant impact in the social services industry for over 15 years. Her unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly women abuse survivors and those affected by gangs, has brought about positive change in Downtown Eastside Vancouver (Surrey).

One of Dhorea's notable achievements was being part of a team that created National Suicide Awareness Day, a crucial initiative that raises awareness about suicide prevention on a national scale. Her passion for promoting mental health and preventing suicide led her to direct a Healthy Living Series documentary focused on suicide prevention. The documentary has garnered awards and recognition and has been published in the prestigious Journal of Dental Education.

With a desire to expand her horizons and make a difference in a new community, Dhorea moved to Kelowna over four years ago. There, she managed a shelter and implemented 15 essential services, ensuring that the vulnerable population received the support they needed. Her leadership and dedication were instrumental in transforming the shelter into a safe and nurturing environment.

Driven by a desire to empower the vulnerable sector, Dhorea then took on the role of running a social enterprise with 31 staff members and overseeing six projects, even amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic. Her ability to manage and support a diverse team while maintaining the organization's social impact is a testament to her exceptional leadership skills.

Currently, Dhorea serves as the Founder of the Holistic Sober Living House, a groundbreaking initiative that provides a unique and much-needed healing space for women and individuals who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ seeking sobriety. With a trauma-informed practice at its core, the Holistic Sober Living House offers inclusive and non-punitive approaches to addressing addiction, focusing on the whole person's well-being. Dhorea's program emphasizes client-led recovery with comprehensive wrap-around supports, outreach efforts, and aftercare programs that include relapse prevention strategies.

Dhorea's journey in the social services industry reflects her unwavering commitment to empowering individuals and fostering holistic healing.
